Why Your Skin Care Routine Should Include Exercise

Most people are aware that exercise is good for the cardiovascular system (heart and lungs) and for bones but many may not know how good exercise is for the skin. Keeping skin vibrant relies on healthy blood circulation. Your skin’s working cells receive nutrients and oxygen through the blood stream. Every time you increase blood flow through exercise your skin cells are being nourished. For this reason, exercise should be a part of your natural skin care routine.

It’s never too late to start. No matter what your age, research shows that people who exercise have healthier and thicker skin compositions than those who don’t exercise. Here are some suggestions on how to get the most benefits to your skin naturally, while exercising.

Work Up A Sweat
Skin is one of the body’s six organs that secrete debris. Working up a sweat flushes out waste products including free radicals, which are damaging to skin. This natural release process helps bring toxins to the surface, where they can be washed away.

Here are several natural skin care tips for getting the most from a workout.

Breathe
Let your skin breathe while exercising. Go natural and leave the makeup at home.

Cleanse
Dermatologists recommend washing the skin as soon as possible after exercising so your pores don’t get clogged. Such clogging can cause bacterial or fungus infections.

Hydrate
Dehydration leads to dead skin cells and clogged pores. Drink water before, during and after a workout.

Moisturize
You lose moisture when you perspire so it’s important to moisturize. Moisturizers help retain the skin’s water.

Relax
Exercise reduces stress, which can have an effect on skin. Stress can cause fluctuations in hormones that may impact skin.

AVoid the Sun
Sun exposure effects the distribution of elastin and collagen in the skin. Exercise indoors or when outdoors apply sunscreen to protect your skin.

Exercise Tones Muscles
Firm muscles support the skin and can make skin appear firmer and more flexible. Toned muscles also support a healthy body image. When you love your body, you will take good care of it.

Exercise often, stay out of the sun and apply a natural organic moisturizer to keep your skin healthy and vibrant, naturally.

Thanks Theodora for the tips on how I can keep my skin healthy! I had no idea that working out and exercising can actually help your skin as well as your muscles. I’ve always thought that the only ways to fix skin is though cosmetic procedures. Even though I try to do as much as I can, I think sometime getting a procedure done is the only option.
