Sugar Thread Lift, or PDO thread lift, is an invasive facelift without the knife- it has no downtime and is known to produce good results. It’s a natural, dissolvable thread that is implanted into the superficial layer of the skin stimulating the body to produce collagen around the threads thus plumping and lifting the targeted area (usually around the jawline and neck) giving a more youthful appearance.
PDO (polydioxanone) sugar threads are very thin dissolvable sutures. There are various types of PDO sugar threads, but the two most common are smooth vs barbed. Smooth threads are as the name suggests smooth, while barbed threads have little bidirectional barbs on them that generate more lift than smooth threads.
I have been intrigued by this non-surgical procedure for a long time and decided to look into it more seriously. I did a consultation and decided to proceed. I was excited and nervous, to be honest. The session didn’t take a long time, but I had three of them. It took about 6 weeks to heal and it was painful. On a scale of 1 to 10- I would say it was about a 6 for me, taking into consideration that we all have different thresholds of pain tolerance.
Did I see a difference? The answer is yes I did, but not in a drastic way, but a more natural way which is what I was hoping for. Was it worth it? For me it was and I feel good that it was natural. How long will it last ? The threads dissolve gradually over a 6- to 8-month period, but formation of new collagen occurs for the next 9 to 18 months and they recommended a follow-up treatment in a year. I can honestly say I’m happy I had the procedure and now can report my experience as being a positive one.
There are so many nonsurgical, natural procedures and techniques out there, you really need to make sure to take the time to research them and find the right one for you. The next step I highly recommend is to find the right professional. Usually the right professional is one that will take the time to sit with you, discuss the procedure, answer your questions and offer you their qualifications. Having confidence and trust in who was doing the procedure made all the difference for me and my results. Don’t hesitate to ask for referrals and check their reviews.
I recently found this great YouTube video called “Natural 5 Minute Face Lift” (link) that you may like.
I think I’ll incorporate this into my daily routine!
