Gender Neutral Beauty

When developing YASOU skin care I wasn’t thinking about gender neutral beauty or how my skin care line should be unisex. I just wanted to create products that contained quality ingredients, were plant-based, cruelty-free, felt good and really worked. These were and are the requirements on my “Must” list.

After creating my first product YASOU hydrating body cream with essential oils, I noticed my husband and brother loved the body cream. They loved the way it felt, the way it smelled and that it really helped their dry/cracked skin.  I realized that the ingredients and essential oils (aroma) I was using in my line appealed to both genders.

The more research I did concentrating on hydration and replenishing aging skin, the more I learned that if you use quality ingredients that target all skin types, than both men and women can use the same products.  There are huge differences between male and female skin but the key when looking for skin care is to not think about gender but to think about skin type and skin care needs. When tailoring a skin care plan, one should base it on one’s own need, particular issue and what the best ingredients or treatments are needed to solve them.  With all this in mind I knew YASOU skin care was naturally unisex and part of the gender neutral beauty tribe.

Our world and the beauty industry is changing. Traditional stereotypes are beginning to dissolve, looking and feeling out-dated. Gender neutral beauty is becoming a global trend in 2018 and when skin types and skin needs are similar for couples, it’s also cheaper to invest in quality products and share them. Plus there’s less clutter and waste, so it’s good for the environment!

The more I think about Gender Neutral Beauty the more I realize that there is something deep happening.  I believe it’s a sense of freedom for all of us and for our children.  It’s the freedom to try new things,  shop and live in a way where we don’t feel judged or stifled into a gender or category that may sacrifice quality.  Marketing is ingrained in how we live and in how we view ourselves and our beauty.  Marketing is becoming inclusive, more of a reflection of the society we prefer to live in!   It’s the best time to learn about your ingredients and what their benefits are. When shopping, you can invest in something good that works for you and your loved ones. Remember feeding your skin is like feeding your body!  No matter what your gender.

A Man’s World Now Includes Skin Care

While Brazil was getting ready for the 2016 Olympics, one quarter of Brazilian men reported spending more time tending to their facial skin than they had in the prior 6 months. Their biggest skincare concerns were ones shared by North American and European men – aging skin and oily skin, according to Mintel consumer research.

Euromonitor International research shows Egyptian men’s purchases of shaving products including creams, foams, razors and blades edged up last year. Sophistication and incomes are rising in Indonesia along with men’s concerns over their image. A simple grooming routine is what the majority of men reported wanting.

Sales of skincare products for men are surging in part because of Millennial men who are now reaching their mid twenties and older. They are more knowledgeable of product benefits and more aware of how to enhance their image than older generations of men.

Men’s salons that offer massages, facials and waxing are tapping into the pleasure and practicality of men’s self care. Beard control, pore treatment, skin firmers, moisturizers, and sun protectors are some of the personal care products that appeal to male consumers. They are willing to spend money on skincare but often need a second opinion on which products to buy. Quality of ingredients and a positive sensory experience are things they look for in skin care products. They want their products to be effective, smell good and feel good.

Within the top selling men’s personal care products are body moisturizers, facial cleansers and facial moisturizers. According to Mintel research, 12 percent of men use eye cream. Fifty nine percent say personal care products boost their self-esteem.

Connected to world influences by social media, men are finding skin care tips and use acceptance from global sources. Paris Vogue deemed South Korea a “utopia of grooming” and highlighted some of the best-selling man inspired Korean products and treatments. In South Korea cleansing, moisturizing and staying out of the sun are lessons parents teach to both boys and girls. In the USA male awareness of skin care benefits is increasing. An estimated 43 percent of American men are using skincare products to moisturize their skin, stall aging, conceal flaws and cleanse their faces.

YASOU natural skin care is a unisex brand that appeals to both women and men. They like its feel, quality of ingredients, aroma and effectiveness. Another benefit men especially like is easy product purchase. It’s simple to order YASOU skin care products online. Beautiful skin and well-being are available to all.

What Men Need In Skin Care

Men’s skincare needs differ from those of women. Their layers of skin tend to be thicker and they have smaller pores. Men’s oil glands produce more lubrication (oil) for their skin and it lasts longer than women’s. This gives men an extra anti-aging defense. But even with this extra lubrication they still need a proper skin care regime with quality products that are suitable for their skin types just like women do. Some experts believe if the skin care products contain high quality ingredients they are suitable for either gender. I agree.

Men have different skin care challenges than women, primarily because they have traditionally taken less care of their skin. Men’s skin tends to be exposed more often to damaging environmental elements. Studies show than men tend to have a higher incidence of all forms of skin cancer (this applies specifically to Caucasian men in the USA). Another challenge to men’s skin is the daily SHAVE.

Daily shaving destroys the hydrolipidic film leading to the loss of their natural lubrication and protection. Daily shaving, especially a close shave can cause scraping and niches to the skin leaving it more sensitive and irritated. This can cause dry and dull skin for men starting at an early age.
The first line of defense is moisturizing. Men NEED to moisturize regularly to keep their skin hydrated and healthy. Men not only need to moisturize their face but need to moisturize their body as well using appropriate products for each.

Men should look for a natural/organic face moisturizer that promotes hydration, skin cell regeneration, and is healing. It should be rich in essential fatty acids, oils, vitamins (especially A, C & E) botanical (green tea) and/or fruit extracts and anti oxidants. We recommend YASOU vegan cellular day cream and /or YASOU vegan cell renewal night cream for the face and YASOU hydrating body cream or the body.

My husband, Ray, uses YASOU cell renewal night cream for his face. He has seen his face become hydrated, toned with a huge reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. He also uses YASOU body cream for key areas on his body that become extremely dry like his elbows, knees and legs. He is always telling me that he needs the body cream with him especially when he travels.

A customer and friend named Mike, who is a real estate agent in Chicago, used YASOU cell renewal night cream and called to let me know that it helped the puffiness under his eyes, even though he didn’t use it on his eyes but just his face.

In another example an IT professional and customer told me that he uses YASOU body cream for his extremely dry feet. He was not concerned about pricing due to the excellent results he achieved, unparalleled by other products he tried.
