Hello I am Theodora Ntovas aka Terry, founder of YASOU “a toast to your health” skin care, I am a native Chicagoan and a first generation Greek.
The Meaning
“YASOU” (pronounced ya-soo) is a common Greek greeting that is used to say “Hello” or “GoodBye” but it’s original meaning is “A toast to your health.”
About Me
My story begins at the age of four years old when I first lived in Greece.
As a young girl I lived and visited Greece often. My mother’s parents were mountain farmers from a small village called Archia Feneos in the Peloponnese region near Corinth, Greece and my father’s parents lived in Athens. I foundly remember either being by the sea or in the mountains- where I experienced “old world” culture. I believe this time spent in Greece shaped my spirituality: my love for nature, the ocean, animals, good food and the practice of respecting all living things.
My grandparents lived off their land and cooked with the freshest ingredients, vegetables, oils, meat and fish. Both grandmothers made their own health and beauty remedies from local flowers, indigenous plants and organic beeswax or propolis. My mother continued to follow these practices and passed them on to me.
Previously, in my past life I was an art director in visual communications for a decade, despite success in my career, I felt empty…I had a calling to return to the Greek village that I remembered so fondly. It was during this trip that a series of events fell into place and when returning to the states-YASOU was born! YASOU skin care was a way for me to reconnect with the heritage I had distanced myself from during my youth.
The mission was to combine medicinal with luxury and change what luxe means in today’s green beauty era by uniting old world quality ingredients with American new world science bringing you this Greek-inspired skin care line.
YASOU “a toast to your health” skin care is the manifestation of my heart and passion for good health, good ingredients, sustainable practices, and a happy life for all. This is an authentic story.
