For My Mother: Dear Mama,

It’s been over a month since you left us and went to heaven and I miss you so much.  I think of you and my heart feels so full. I feel so blessed that we were able to say all the things we needed to say before you closed your eyes to begin your new adventure,  but I want to thank you for so much more so here goes.

Thank you for teaching me to be kind

Thank you for always taking care of me when I was sick.  I remember how nice you would be to me when I was sick bringing me tea and checking my temperature and making sure if I needed anything.  I always felt so cared for that it always made me feel better.

Thank you for giving me a curfew when I was a teenage girl.  I use to be upset with you because my friends didn’t have a curfew but when I look back on it I see you were trying to keep me safe especially because you were a single mother working full-time and raising two kids.

Thank you for teaching me to make Greek Easter cookies and Greek Christmas cookies.  I always enjoyed us making them together we had a lot of fun.

Thank you trying to understand my point of view even if you didn’t agree.

Thank you for making us your priority and loving us!

Thank you for always having a smile on your face when we came to see you in the nursing home. I can’t tell you how I see your beautiful smiling face all the time now.

Thank you for apologizing to me for the times we butted heads .

Thank you for waiting in line all those hours to see the Elvis Presley movie called “Change of Habit”.  I was 10 years old and so in love with Elvis and that meant the world to me.

Thank you for taking my vintage wedding dress that I bought and hand washing and ironing it,
reviving it to look brand new and so beautiful.

Thank you for spending New Year’s Eve with me and going out for Chinese food when I was single and alone.

Thank you for always making my furry friends your furry friends.

Thank you for showing me how to garden and grow my vegetables.

Thank you for being my friend it took us a while but we got there!

Thank you for making me the woman I am today.

Thank you, thank you, thank you- for everything.

I love you so very much and feel so blessed to have you as my mother.  There is no one like Moms and on this Mother’s Day I honor you my beautiful Mother.

Happy Mother’s Day Mama.

Much Love,

Terry.
